While I was at the Gourmet Food show in February, I visited the booth of the Arizona Vanilla Company. I was thinking that it would be nice to carry a local vanilla here at the E.P. if it tasted good. They were kind enough to send me samples to try in our cooking classes. It just happened that the day I received the samples Nick Malgieri was teaching a class here at the store and I asked him to give it a try. He was not sold, stating that Nielsen-Massey was the best and that it was all he ever used.
I personally thought it had a nice nutty aroma and I liked the taste, but I'm not a professional baker not an expert on vanilla.
So, my questions are: Has anyone out there ever used that particular brand? (AZ Vanilla Company from Mesa AZ)
If so, what is your opinion?
Would you buy if I brought it in the store?
Do you prefer imitation over the pure extract?
About The Epicurean Palette
- Epicurean Palette
- Cave Creek, Arizona, United States
- Our store began with a dream and a belief between two friends in Fort Collins, Colorado. The dream was to create a store that would have the ambience of an old world market place yet carry all the latest in gadget technology and kitchen trends. Our dream was to be unique so that we would set ourselves apart from "big box chain stores". The belief is that your kitchen is more than a place to cook. It is the place where friends, both new and old, and generations of families come together to celebrate life. It's where traditions are started. It is the canvas on which we paint some of our most memorable memories
